Printed Pattern Concepts

Developed research from Emily Blincoe's arrangements to create my own personal response to pattern making. We were asked to respond with something personal; perhaps our hobby or favourite sport or food- therefore I chose to use my favourite food which is broccoli. I was interested in the structure of the vegetable and how its closely linked to ideas of nature and trees. I intended for my prints to become reminiscent of a series of trees. I chose to limit my prints to just two; one being black and white and the other yellow. I intended not to use green as I wanted to create a new visual identity for the broccoli. I hope that i can develop this idea more thoroughly by perhaps creating a 3D form of colourful broccoli.
